my vision
Breaking down silos to transform the Blue Economy.
The most meaningful transformations rarely happen in silos. They emerge when different perspectives, expertise, real-world needs and local realities come together.
A systemic and collaborative approach guides how I analyze challenges and support every project.
Why I created
Blue Connection?
“The major challenges facing our ocean cannot be addressed by one organization, one technology or one discipline alone. We need to create more connections.”
This conviction is what led me to create Blue Connection.
For more than ten years, I have worked across the maritime and blue economy ecosystem. I have worked with innovative startups, innovation clusters, SMEs, universities, local authorities, international organizations and European institutions.
Along the way, I have met passionate researchers, visionary entrepreneurs, committed decision makers, investors, scientists, associations and citizens who dedicate their energy to better understanding, protecting and enhancing the ocean.
I have also observed a simple reality.
We do not lack ideas.
We do not lack technologies.
We do not lack talent.
What we still lack too often are connections.
Connections between research and industry.
Between innovations and their users.
Between territories facing the same challenges.
Between startups developing solutions and the investors who can support them.
Between scientists producing knowledge and decision makers who need to act.
Between public policies and realities on the ground.
This is precisely where I have chosen to act.
Blue Connection was not born from a desire to create a consulting firm.
Blue Connection was born from a simple idea: connect the dots between worlds that too often operate in silos.
The major challenges facing our ocean cannot be addressed by one organization, one technology or one discipline alone. We need to create more connections.

Founder of Blue Connection

Building bridges across the blue economy
...between stakeholders
Because the greatest innovations are born through collaboration.
...between people
Because transitions are, above all, human.
...between nature and innovation
Because the ocean is the world's greatest laboratory of inspiration.
...between territories
Because sharing experiences across territories helps accelerate change.
....between knowledge and action
Because knowledge only creates value when it is shared and put into practice.
...between disciplines
Because breakthrough ideas emerge at the intersection of expertise.
What I Believe.
The greatest innovations begin with meaningful connections.
Innovation is about much more than developing new technologies.
A truly transformative innovation only reaches its full potential when it connects with the right partner, the right territory, the right source of funding or the people who will ultimately benefit from it.
I have seen remarkable startups fail to reach the market because they never connected with the right ecosystem.
I have seen regions searching for solutions that already existed elsewhere.
I have seen outstanding research remain confined to academic circles instead of creating real-world impact.
And I have also seen the opposite: unexpected encounters and collaborations turn into remarkable projects.
That is exactly what I like to make happen.

Innovation takes many forms.
When people think about innovation, they often think first of new technologies.
Innovation goes far beyond technology.
It can be technological, of course, but also organisational, social, regulatory or inspired by nature.
Nature-based Solutions, biomimicry and collaborative approaches remind us that some of the most promising solutions have already existed for millions of years, we simply need to learn how to observe, understand and adapt them.
To me, the ocean is the world's greatest research and development laboratory. For millions of years, it has been experimenting, adapting, innovating and finding resilient ways to thrive.
I believe innovation is also about changing the way we look at challenges, learning from nature, encouraging collaboration and connecting scientific knowledge with the experience and expertise of those working in the field.

The ocean cannot be understood through sectoral silos.
The blue economy is often divided into sectors: aquaculture, offshore renewable energy, ocean observation, ports, biodiversity, marine biotechnology, fisheries, underwater robotics and many more.
In practice, these sectors are far more interconnected than they may appear.
The data collected to protect marine ecosystems also supports offshore infrastructure.
Innovations developed for aquaculture often find applications in other maritime industries.
Climate change affects every activity connected to the ocean.
That is why I have always chosen a cross-sector and interdisciplinary approach rather than focusing on a single industry.
The solutions of tomorrow will emerge where disciplines, industries and perspectives come together.

Knowledge only creates value when it is shared.
A study only creates value when it helps inform decisions.
An innovation only creates impact when it is adopted.
Research only reaches its full potential when it connects with the people who can turn it into action.
This belief guides everything I do.
Through Blue Connection, I help organisations transform knowledge into strategy, strengthen their international development and accelerate innovation.
Through my podcast, BlueTech Around the World, I give a voice to researchers, entrepreneurs and experts, making blue innovations more accessible and helping knowledge reach a wider audience.
Through conferences, workshops and training programmes, I share lessons learned from the field to help organisations, entrepreneurs and innovators move their projects forward.
Because sharing knowledge is just as important as creating it.

Maritime transitions are, above all, about people.
Technology is essential.
But its true potential is only realised when it is driven by people who are willing to collaborate, share knowledge and turn ideas into action.
This belief led me to co-found NOWA (Network of Women in Aquaculture), an international initiative dedicated to advancing gender equality and empowering women across the aquaculture sector.
Through awareness-raising, training, networking and international cooperation, we help create a more inclusive, innovative, sustainable and resilient future for aquaculture by enabling women to fully contribute to the sector's transformation.
The same conviction also guides my work as a member of the FAO GSA Expert Group, where I contribute to translating international recommendations into practical actions that can be implemented at national and local levels, ensuring they respond to the real needs of stakeholders on the ground.
Because beyond technology, it is people who bring innovation to life and make transitions possible.

Think globally.
Act locally.
The challenges facing our ocean are global.
The solutions, however, are deeply rooted in local realities.
Through the Ocean Leaders programme with Peace Boat, I had the opportunity to meet island communities across the Caribbean that are already adapting to the impacts of climate change.
I discovered inspiring initiatives shaped by the unique environmental, cultural and socio-economic realities of each territory.
This experience reinforced one of my strongest convictions: there is no universal solution.
What exists, however, are experiences, methods and innovations that deserve to be shared, adapted and reinvented to meet the needs of different regions.
Sharing these experiences across territories is also part of my mission.

Working at the intersection of disciplines creates impact.
Throughout my career, I have deliberately chosen to work where different worlds meet.
Between research and industry.
Between startups and investors.
Between universities and businesses.
Between public authorities and innovation.
Between European institutions and local territories.
Between scientists and society.
These intersections are often complex.
But they are also where the most ambitious ideas become the most impactful projects.

What drives me.
Moving meaningful projects forward.
Creating the right conditions for a strong idea to meet the right partners, market, expertise or territory.
That is the common thread running through my consulting work, international collaborations, speaking engagements, training programmes, podcast and other commitments.
Because the major challenges facing our ocean will never be solved by one organisation alone.
They will be addressed collectively.
That is what Blue Connection is all about.
